The Bespokist Society Guide to…London @TheBespokist #BlogTour @rararesources

“Wow!!! A genuinely bespoke city guide!!!” Tommy Sponge, Chairman, The Bespokist Society
You have in your hands one of the most curated city guides ever created. As the first travel book produced by the hugely influential Bespokist Society, this handy guide takes you to a London you’ve never seen: a London of challenging Etruscan restaurants, edgy branding parlours, emoji hotels and hidden Icelandic communities; a London where 8-ply toilet paper is a thing.
On the way, meet an eclectic band of inspiring Londoners - from scriveners to socialites via urban wordsmiths and coffee preachers - and see why London is now the global epicentre of Bespokist consciousness, community and culture.

The Bespokist Society Guide to London was published on 1 April 2018 ...... the perfect date for this fabulously funny little book.  I'm delighted to host the Blog Tour here on Random Things today, with thanks to Rachel from Rachel's Random Resources who invited me to join the tour, and to the publisher who sent my review copy.

I already knew about this book as I worked with the author on a previous Blog Tour, but had not actually sat down and read it until now.

It's perfectly presented; small but perfectly formed. The ideal size to slip into a pocket or bag and whip out to have a laugh when you've a spare moment.

This certainly is fiction, it's a tongue-in-cheek guide to the author's imagined London, and whilst it may not be factually correct, there are parts of it that certainly could be. We all know how wonderfully diverse and eccentric our capital city can be, and this little book plays on that fact.

We start off with a gentle introduction; 24 Hours in London, and this really sets the tone of the book. Whilst 'nettle frittata' may not be an actual 'thing', I've certainly seen some items on menus in the City that have evoked the same reaction in me. Who knows, maybe some new chef will see this too and before we know it nettles will become the new avocado!

The reader is then taken on a tour of (fictional) London, starting in the centre and heading out in all directions. There are places to eat, to groom, to sleep and to shop.  There are also interviews with characters such as Sadie Smyth, the owner of Elevenzes in Chiswick - why oh why hasn't anyone thought of this idea .... builder's tea and a artisan Rich Tea biscuit, for those people who are too late for breakfast, but can't wait until lunchtime.

Complete with colourful photographs, The Bespokist Society Guide to London really is a laugh and would make the perfect gift for your hipster mate!

The Bespokist Society Guide to London is a work of fiction written by born and bred Londoner, Jeremy Liebster.
Somewhat surprisingly, Jeremy is also a city lawyer – formerly at DLA Piper and now a General Counsel within a large private equity group.
Jeremy is utterly obsessed with travel books and although he might poke fun at urban fads, hipster fried chicken is his guilty pleasure.
He also has an unusual interest in clothes hangers.
