As we begin to think about the end of lock-down, many people are wondering about travel and tourism; where will we go? Will flying abroad really be a safe option?
As someone who enjoys a couple of holidays abroad every year, it's certainly something that I've thought about a lot recently.

We are lucky that along with our trips abroad, we do take lots of short breaks in the UK; we especially love Yorkshire and Northumberland and I'm longing to get back there very soon. I really think, for us, flying is out the the question for a while.

100 Great Wildlife Experiences is a really beautifully presented book that gives information about where you can see wildlife within the UK. It is separated out into locations, so if you fancy a trip to Yorkshire, or Cornwall, you can check the book to see what experiences are available.

It's not just animals and birds though; the author also talks about places such as The Farndale Trail in North Yorkshire, otherwise know as the Daffodil Trail.

I had no idea that you could swim with sharks here in the UK! You certainly can in Cornwall. Cage-diving with blue sharks, which are fairly common in British waters, began off Cornwall about ten years ago and there are now a few places who do variations on that theme. You can also go snorkelling without a cage .... if you dare!

From flowers to sharks, with birds, butterflies and bats in between, this book is the perfect companion when planning a trip in the UK.

James D Fair is the environment editor for BBC Wildlife Magazine. He has worked as a natural

history magazine journalist for most of the past 20 years, with several interruptions during the 1990's to travel and become the mother of an orphaned Andean bear.

These days, his horizons are slightly more limited, with his chief concern being how to protect his bantams from foxes and grass snakes.
