Roar is a collection of thirty short stories from this incredibly talented author. I had no idea what to expect when I started to read these, and have been totally blown away by the originality of this writing.

Each of the stories feature 'a woman'; no names, just 'the woman', and this is such an enlightening thing to do. Whilst each of the women in each of the stories are unique, they all have that common bond; they are female and they are all dealing with issues that are unique to women, whoever they may be.

Cecelia Ahern has taken some well-used and well-known phrases and turned them into stories that will resonate with every woman who reads them. Each and every one of these are expertly written, with characters and situations that are so very clever.

As with any collection of short stories, I have my favourites, but I can honestly say that there isn't one story that I didn't enjoy reading.

The Woman Who Found Bite Marks on Her Skin is a particular favourite. The author depicts how women allow others to take pieces of them for their own gain, and how we can be eaten up by guilt. It's quite shocking, but eloquently written.

The Woman Who Walked in Her Husband's Shoes is a very moving story, yet anger inducing too. Ahern looks at how a woman would be perceived differently if she was a man. The Woman goes out in her husband's shoes and instantly, her experiences change. This is so enlightening; something that most of us are aware of at all times.

Clever, tender, witty; this is a fabulous collection of stories and every woman will recognise themselves, or someone they know in all of them.   Wonderful and highly recommended from me.
