My Review Policy

Please note:     I DO NOT READ E BOOKS

Due to ongoing commitments to various publishers, I will not accept any review requests from self-published authors unless I have previously published a review for you or we follow each other on social media, or by recommendation from fellow bloggers. This does not mean that I do not read works that are self published, or support those authors, it is purely so that I can manage my work load

As much as I'd love to support every new author, I do have a full-time job as well as blogging, and just don't have the time. If you've arrived here by recommendation, please tell me who sent you

PLEASE NOTE - As I am now receiving so many review requests, I will only respond if I am interested in reviewing the book.

My reviews  ........

Thank you so much for your interest in Random Things Through My Letterbox which was born in March 2011.

I love to read and I always carry a book with wherever I go.

I'm really happy to review books (or anything else for that matter ...... designer bags, make up, Jimmy Choos!! ....  a girl can try!).   I don't read e-books and I don't listen to audio books, so good old-fashioned books, made from paper only please.

I make a point of prioritising books for review, especially if there is a deadline.

I receive no payment for reviews, and I'm honest.   Just because I may not like something doesn't mean that other people will dislike it too, and vice versa.

I’m a Top 100 reviewer on Amazon and also review pre-publication books through their Vine programme. My reviews are always posted on Goodreads, and I'm also a Top Ten reviewer on the Waterstone's site.
I review women's contemporary fiction for the Daily Express, Books on Friday column

I do read non-fiction, and especially enjoy travel and food books

I tweet A LOT about my reviews and have some great relationships with publishers, PR companies and authors.

My Twitter name is @annecater

If you are an author or a blogger, you may be interested in joining Book Connectors on Facebook, it's a really friendly group made up of authors and bloggers, and a couple of very small publishers. The aim of Book Connectors is to be a place where you can openly promote your books, or your blog and make connections with other authors and bloggers.

You will also find Random Things on Facebook

Things that I don't do ....

I will read just about anything, but am not interested in;

science fiction
fantasy
erotic fiction
military fiction
paranormal romance
zombies, vampires or werewolves

So, how does it all work?

Contact by email is best; you can get me at anne.lcdp@hotmail.co.uk, or Tweet me.  Give me some details about the book you'd like me to feature - a link would be really useful

I will do my very best to produce a fair review.  Every now and again I do come across a book that is really not 'me'.  If that happens, I'll let you know.  I don't post bad reviews, but I am honest.

I do try to ensure that my reviews are posted on or around publication date, so a few weeks notice would be really helpful if you'd like me to publish on a specific date.

I do receive lots of unsolicited books, and I love getting them, but sometimes I just don't have the time to read and review them.  I will do my best, but I will also ask around in blogger / reviewer land to see if someone else could read and review it.  I never sell review books, but I do pass them to friends and other bloggers on occasion.

PLEASE NOTE - As I am now receiving so many review requests, I will only respond if I am interested in reviewing the book.

I do not ask for, nor receive, payment for any review. Although my reviews may contain links to Amazon, this is purely for ease of reference. I have no affiliation with, and receive no payment from Amazon, or any other company whose links I may include.

Quoting my reviews

I am 100% happy for authors/publishers to reproduce parts of my reviews in books, on websites or as part of wider publicity, but please could these be attributed to me and to Random Things.

Thank you for your interest
